Dr. Genevieve DeVera
Dr. Genevieve DeVera was born in the Philippines and grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. She attended the University of Virginia, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology in 1994. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1998 and graduated with honors. After graduating, Dr. DeVera became a clinical instructor at the General Practice and Emergency Departments of the dental school. She then pursued postdoctoral training in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry.
Dr. DeVera practiced in Northern Virginia for 10 years, where she opened a cosmetic and family dental practice in Manassas. She then sold her busy practice and moved to the Richmond area in 2007. Dr. DeVera currently resides with her husband Richard, their two teenage children Abigail and Matthew, and their wiener dog Mila. Dr. DeVera also loves to travel and is a big foodie.Â
Dr. DeVera is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, and the Richmond Dental Society. She is committed to staying current with the latest dental techniques, technology, and materials through continuing education in all aspects of dentistry.
Dr. Erin Wheeler
Dr. Erin Wheeler was born in Toronto and grew up in New York. She attended the University of Richmond and received a degree in . She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. After dental school she completed additional training through a General Practice Residency at the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and Richmond Dental Society. She loves working with patients in establishing treatment plans and reaching goals that are best suited for each individual. I enjoy volunteering for Mission of Mercy projects, and continuing education on advanced surgical techniques and cosmetic dentistry. In my free time I enjoy spending time with loved ones, playing volleyball, coaching swimming, and oil painting. Excited to be a part of the Powhatan Gentle Dentistry team!
Dr. Edith Gonzalez
Dr. Edith Gonzalez has been a dentist since 2001. She is passionate about caring for her patients and helping them achieve a healthy smile. She is fluent in English and Spanish. She completed her dental education in Venezuela and Rochester, NY. She also completed a 2-year postdoctoral dental fellowship in Advanced Education in General Dentistry through the Eastman Institute for Oral Health.
She spent another year in Memorial Hospital for a General Practice Residency program. Dr. Gonzalez completed her undergraduate degree with a triple major in International Studies focused on Latin America, Western Europe, and Foreign Language studies at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Gonzalez lives with her daughter and her family. On her own time, she likes to serve the community and travel to explore and learn from different cultures.
